Dedicato is an asymmetrical lantern, balanced by the oldest and most authentic element of Venetian blown glass tradition – the Bava. In glassworks, the shapeless portion of glass that goes from the blowpipe to the mouth of the mould or cage is called Bava. Although it was born with the blown glass technique and has kept its shape unchanged for hundreds of years, it is still stigmatised as processing waste. The lamp’s creator gives aesthetic value to the oldest and most underrated part of blown glass, a focal element in his original version of the Venetian lantern.
